About The Position

Provides professional patient care and practices in Speech-Language Pathology by evaluating, planning, implementing, and documenting treatment. Diagnoses speech, language, cognitive, vocal, and swallowing disorders by selecting, administering, and interpreting appropriate testing measures. Evaluates and treats patients per the order from the physician and provides treatment using a variety of therapeutic procedures and assistive devices intended to maximize functional potential in all areas of the patient's life. Determines the need for referral to other specialists and agencies. Develops and implements an individualized treatment plan based on patient needs and containing achievable functional goals. Revises treatment plans, as needed, throughout the treatment process. Establishes and instructs patients, families, and other caregivers in therapeutic home exercise programs to be continued following discharge. Completes the appropriate documentation and billing in a timely manner. All care is provided in accordance with the philosophy and essential functions of the hospital, the rehabilitation department, The Joint Commission, State Professional Licensing Agency, and the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA).

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology from a school accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA).
  • Speech-Language Pathologist license in the state where services will be provided (or eligible within 90 days of employment).
  • Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) (if not in CFY).
  • Certified in CPR or must become certified within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Maintain all certifications and licensure according to the expiration date.
  • Valid driver’s license (if assigned to drive a company vehicle).
  • Proof of insurance (if assigned to drive a personal vehicle).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Work experience preferred, but not required, other than clinical experience within educational training program.
  • Clinical Fellow (CFY) must be mentored by a Stated Licensed and ASHA certified SLP in the state where services will be provided and employed by Parkview Health.
  • If employee is a CFY, she/he must obtain state licensure within 18 months of initiation of the CFY.
