About the position

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) position at Select Specialty/Regency Hospitals is a per diem role focused on providing care for critically ill or post-ICU patients. The SLP will be responsible for evaluating and treating communication and swallowing disorders, ensuring a high-quality patient experience in a compassionate environment. This role requires collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient recovery and quality of life.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive evaluation of communication skills and/or swallowing function.
  • Deliver goal-oriented treatment to facilitate maximum communication and/or swallowing potential.
  • Monitor the quality of services provided by the Rehab Therapy Department.
  • Participate in peer review for staff performance and appraisals.
  • Assist in the development of the SLP role in programs and services.
  • Revise departmental policies and procedures as needed.
  • Maintain an adequate stock of supplies for therapy services.
  • Share professional knowledge and experience with colleagues.
  • Alert the Manager to educational needs within the department.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a program satisfying the American Speech/Language/Hearing Association's academic and practicum requirements for the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC).
  • Valid license issued by the State in which they are practicing.
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in the field.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by start date.
