The Specimen Processor at Interpath Laboratory plays a crucial role in ensuring the accurate handling and processing of laboratory specimens. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently. The ideal candidate will support both patient care and team objectives through administrative and technical tasks, while maintaining compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

• Verifying accuracy of client and specimen details, answering phones, and monitoring for safety hazards.
• Receiving, sorting, and labeling specimens according to strict guidelines.
• Aliquoting and centrifuging specimens; processing samples to meet turnaround times.
• Ensuring correct data entry and patient identification while maintaining specimen integrity from collection to transfer.
• Receiving, processing, and packaging samples for referral labs, ensuring proper labeling and handling.
• Adhering to safety protocols, HIPAA policies, Medicare rules, and participating in departmental quality assurance.
• Covering shifts at different sites as needed to maintain smooth operations and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Familiarity with clinical laboratory operations/procedures and specimen handling.
• Valid driver's license with no restrictions; Clean driving record.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy in all tasks.
• Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.
• Demonstrated history of consistent employment, marked by continuity and minimal career gaps.
