About the position

The Nurse Educator Emergency Trauma at HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital is responsible for enhancing professional practice and ensuring quality patient care in the emergency trauma specialty. This role involves developing and delivering educational programs for nursing and clinical staff, facilitating onboarding, and assessing the learning needs of staff to promote competency and retention. The position requires collaboration with clinical education teams and involves significant travel to various facilities within the division.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and assist with orientation/onboarding programs to promote employee retention.
  • Conduct orientation in a manner that facilitates a positive learning environment.
  • Participate in the development, coordination, and management of educational programs and competency evaluations.
  • Identify learning needs of specialty staff through on-site reviews or metrics.
  • Develop activities to address specific outcomes related to knowledge, skill, and practice deficits.
  • Plan educational content delivery that encourages learner engagement.
  • Assess practice gaps and collaborate with clinical education team members to evaluate and adjust educational programs based on feedback.
  • Monitor practices for compliance with laws, regulations, and industry guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or other clinical field (Required).
  • Master's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or other clinical field (Preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in clinical education (Required).
  • 3+ years' experience in nursing specialty in an acute care hospital (Required).
  • Currently licensed as appropriate to education in the state of practice (Required).
  • Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification (Required).
  • Specialty certification as recognized by the American Nurse Credentialing Center (Required).
  • Certification as NPD Practitioner highly preferred.
