The EH&S Specialist I is responsible for implementing workplace environmental, safety, and health programs at assigned facilities to help foster a compliant operation and where Zero Harm culture is continuously embraced.
Responsibilities
Supports implementation and improvement of EH&S programs at one or more distribution facilities in the US.
Collaborate with facility operational teams and EH&S staff to implement action plans, processes, and procedures to control EH&S risks and achieve compliance to the Gildan safety and environmental policies, corporate EH&S guidelines, and improvement initiatives.
Conducts assessments that identify hazards and reduce risk including but not limited to hazard identification, job safety analysis, risk assessments, pre-startup safety review, PPE, machine guarding, and hazardous energy.
Conducts training in all aspects of EH&S to ensure compliance with legal and Gildan requirements and in a manner that positively engages employee behaviors.
Collaboratively conducts incident reviews for causes and develop corrective/preventative actions.
Coaches all levels of personnel on critical skills, behaviors and techniques that that builds and sustains a safety culture consistent with Gildan's values.
Conducts or supports industrial hygiene evaluations sufficient to identify hazards, risks, and trends.
Participates in or conducts internal audits, compliance assessments, & inspections.
Supports safety programs for contractors and construction projects.
Maintains EH&S documentation, records, and EH&S management information tools.
Develops & implements plans to complete personal objectives that align with organizational objectives.
Participates in audits/inspections by external parties such as OSHA, EPA, Property Insurance Carrier, Corporate, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
Requirements
University Degree
B.S., Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental, Chemistry, Engineering; other Physical Sciences will be considered in conjunction with EH&S coursework or certifications.
3-5 Years Relevant Experience

Current CPR/First-Aid/Blood Borne Pathogen Trainer Certification
OSHA 30 hour NFPA 70E, Confined Space, & Control of Hazardous Energy training
Fall Protection Competent Person
