About the position

The Special Procedures Technologist performs invasive procedures partnered with the interventional radiologist. Responsible for patient assessment, education pre and post procedure, and safe care and monitoring of patient during the procedure. Responsible for safe administration of radiation, contrast dosing and image processing. The responsibilities will include, but not limited to, maintaining and operating the specialized vascular C-arm equipment to capture the correct area and produce clear images, applying and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of radiation protection and safety practices, maintaining regulatory required documentation during/after the procedure, and helping to prepare and position the patient for procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform invasive procedures partnered with the interventional radiologist.
  • Conduct patient assessment and education pre and post procedure.
  • Monitor and provide safe care for patients during procedures.
  • Administer radiation and contrast dosing safely.
  • Process images accurately.
  • Maintain and operate specialized vascular C-arm equipment.
  • Apply knowledge of radiation protection and safety practices.
  • Maintain regulatory required documentation during and after procedures.
  • Prepare and position patients for procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of radiologic technology.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in interventional radiology preferred.
  • Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Licensed by the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Graduate of an advanced IR program.
  • Ability to produce very high quality special imaging with little supervision.
  • Ability to function effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with age specific criteria.
