About the position

Responsibilities

  • Verifies the patient's ID by checking their name and date of birth.
  • Corroborates patient's clinical history and ensures information is documented and available for use.
  • Assists with patient interviews before a procedure and documents all relevant information.
  • Ensures that the attending radiologist obtains the proper informed consent.
  • Prepares the patient for procedures to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
  • Notifies appropriate person of any change(s) in patients' status.
  • Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures and strictly practices aseptic technique.
  • Assists the radiologist throughout procedures with all the necessary supplies.
  • Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.
  • Positions the patient for the examination and obtains good technical quality scout film of the area before starting procedures.
  • Assumes care for physical and psychological needs of the patient during the procedure.
  • Initiates life support measures for patients and assists in cardiopulmonary resuscitation during medical emergencies.
  • Maintains working knowledge of all patient monitoring devices.
  • Provides patient education in collaboration with other department staff.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent.
  • Certification in relevant specialty or field.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
  • Commitment to the University's core values.
  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
