About The Position

This role supervises the daily management of specialty imaging operations, including MRI, Nuclear Medicine, and CT. The coordinator is responsible for the administration of radiation to patients, ensuring adherence to radiation safety practices and compliance with TDH standards and current regulations. They work closely with department management and radiologists to organize and perform technical procedures, maintain professional standards of patient care, and ensure staff follow administrative and departmental policies. The position involves developing and maintaining daily and call schedules, with flexibility for odd hours and on-call duties. Additionally, the coordinator assists in developing, interpreting, and applying departmental policies, budgets, and long-range plans.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited radiology program or equivalent.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Current certification and registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or the ARDMS.
  • Current license from the state of Texas.
  • Proficient in applicable modalities in the Radiology Department.
  • Proficient in proper patient positioning and demonstrates the ability to produce technically adequate images for interpretation.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with the patient, the patient’s family and physicians.
  • Coordinate the examinations with other departments as needed.
  • Establish and maintain a good relationship with the physicians and the departmental and medical personnel.
  • Must be able to relate specific ideas generally, several at a time and remember multiple tasks given at one time or over a period of time.
  • Must be able to communicate in written work, using advanced writing skills.
  • Demonstrate ethical and professional conduct.
  • BCLS Certification (may be obtained during training).

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Radiology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining the day-to-day schedule and call schedule.
  • Assists with the development, interpretation, and application of departmental policies, budgets, and long-range plans.
  • Oversees daily operations of service area to meet the needs of patients of all age groups.
  • Collaborates in promoting professional working relationships with peers, subordinates, and superiors. Serves as a role model.
  • Assesses, plans, directs, and evaluates employees to ensure competency of all age groups in the specific service area.
  • Adjusts staffing to meet service needs. Maintains unit operations in line with budgetary guidelines.
  • Takes necessary action to reduce absenteeism and tardiness. Controls overtime.
  • Holds documented staff meetings to address staff problems, quality care issues and to disseminate information.
  • Encourages and provides opportunities for in-services and workshops. Assists personnel in developing and achieving performance goals and suggestions for improvement.
  • Accepts, interprets, and implements policies and procedures pertaining to personnel and patients.
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of and enforces unit routines, policies, and protocols.
  • Takes an active role in the department’s continuous quality improvement program and attends required meetings.
  • Initiates ideas and studies as opportunities for quality improvement are identified, documents follow-up and corrective action.
  • Ensures reporting and evaluation of all incidents involving unsafe practice, error or accidents.
  • Plans safe, efficient, and economical functioning of service to ensure Joint Commission and other relevant standards are met.
  • Monitors stock and supplies; usage of equipment and supplies through monthly accounting reports.
  • Performs all other tasks/responsibilities as necessary.
