About The Position

Ampersand Therapy is hiring Special Education Teachers to support students in Maywood, Illinois. In this role, you’ll provide individualized instruction, develop IEPs, and create inclusive learning environments that help students succeed. You’ll work with a collaborative district and a supportive, therapist-run team. This position is for the 2026-2027 school year, starting in August 2026 and lasting for the entire school year. Openings are available in self-contained classrooms and the role is full-time, 1.0 FTE.

Requirements

• Valid Illinois State teaching license (PEL) with Learning Behavior Specialist 1 endorsement

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement IEPs tailored to student needs
• Provide specialized instruction across academic subjects
• Manage classroom behavior and create a structured, supportive environment
• Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
• Write progress reports and maintain compliant documentation
• Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies for diverse learning needs
• Incorporate technology and resources to enhance learning
