About the position

The Special Education Teacher for Middle School MoCI (Moderate Cognitive Impairment) is responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with moderate cognitive impairments. This role involves developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student. The teacher will work closely with students to enhance their academic, social, and emotional skills, ensuring they have access to a meaningful education in a supportive environment. In addition to direct instruction, the Special Education Teacher will collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to create an inclusive learning atmosphere. This includes adapting curriculum materials, utilizing assistive technology, and employing various teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles. The teacher will also monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in IEP meetings to discuss student achievements and areas for improvement. The position requires a commitment to fostering a positive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and independence. The teacher will also be responsible for managing classroom behavior and implementing strategies to promote positive interactions among students.   • Ability to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs).
  • Knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive teaching strategies.
