About the position

The Special Education Teacher for Low Incidence/Autistic Grades K-5 at Rockford Public School District #205 is responsible for creating meaningful learning experiences for students with disabilities. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of educational methods and the ability to engage students through inquiry-based instruction. The teacher will plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities, utilize various instructional strategies, and maintain a safe learning environment. Regular attendance and participation in professional development are essential functions of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
  • Engage students in an inquiry-based delivery model of instruction
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
  • Use a wide range of instructional strategies and technologies to meet the needs of a diverse student population
  • Update and maintain all necessary records accurately and completely as required by law, district policies and school regulations
  • Create and maintain a safe learning environment for all students
  • Demonstrate effective behavior management techniques appropriate to the needs of all students, including those with disabilities
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and needs
  • Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLC)
  • Create formative assessments aligned to district curriculum
  • Analyze student data from assessments to drive differentiated instruction and data-based decision making for students
  • Utilize current technology to enhance student learning

Requirements

  • Illinois Teaching License with appropriate endorsements and certifications
