About the position

New Story School in Monroeville, PA is seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher to join our mission-driven organization dedicated to providing exceptional educational support to students with emotional and behavioral challenges. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a crucial role in the success of our students, particularly those in emotional support and/or autistic support programs. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the classroom team and managing the dynamics and functioning of all staff within your classroom. You will be instrumental in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment that caters to the individual needs of each student. In this role, you will be responsible for completing the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process, which encompasses IEP development, collaboration with multidisciplinary team members, and the preparation of required paperwork. You will develop lesson plans that actively engage students in learning, utilizing a variety of instructional strategies tailored to meet the individual needs of students based on their IEP goals and objectives. This includes making necessary modifications as outlined in specially designed instruction. Timely submission of required documentation, such as lesson plans, IEPs, report cards, progress reports, and evaluation reports, is essential to ensure compliance and support student progress. Collaboration is key in this position, as you will work closely with members of the multidisciplinary team to design and implement appropriate services for students. Your interpersonal skills will be vital in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, parents/guardians, school personnel, and others involved in the educational and behavioral programs of the children you serve. You will also need to demonstrate strong decision-making and leadership skills, along with excellent organizational and communication abilities. Responsibilities

  • Complete Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process, including IEP development and collaboration with multidisciplinary team members.
  • Develop lesson plans that keep students actively engaged in learning using a variety of instructional strategies.
  • Tailor lesson plans to meet the individual needs of students based on IEP goals and objectives, including modifications listed in specially designed instruction.
  • Submit required documentation in a timely manner, including lesson plans, IEPs, report cards, progress reports, and evaluation reports.
  • Work collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary team to develop, design, and implement appropriate services.

Requirements

  • Six months' experience working with children with behavior/learning disorders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • PA Teacher License.
