About the position
The Special Education Teacher for Early Childhood Low Incidence/Autistic will be responsible for creating meaningful learning experiences for all students. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of central concepts, methods of inquiry, and structures of disciplines. The teacher will engage students in an inquiry-based delivery model of instruction and utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technologies to meet the diverse needs of students. The role also involves maintaining accurate records, creating a safe learning environment, and communicating regularly with students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress.
Responsibilities
- Ensure actions align with Board policies and the strategic plan.
- Participate in job training and professional growth opportunities.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning.
- Engage students in an inquiry-based delivery model of instruction.
- Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for educational activities.
- Use a wide range of instructional strategies and technologies.
- Consider equitable resources and instructional practices.
- Update and maintain necessary records accurately and completely.
- Create and maintain a safe learning environment.
- Demonstrate effective behavior management techniques.
- Maintain discipline according to building expectations and district code of conduct.
- Communicate necessary information regarding student progress and needs.
- Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLC).
- Create formative assessments aligned to district curriculum.
- Analyze student data to drive differentiated instruction.
Requirements
- Illinois Teaching License with appropriate endorsements and certifications.
- Ability to demonstrate qualities aligned to core values of Character, Communication, Collaboration, and Continuous Improvement.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all school stakeholders.
- Ability to develop relationships with students and parents.
- Knowledge of various instructional strategies and techniques.
- Knowledge of best teaching and assessing practices.
