About the position

The Special Education Teacher for Early Childhood Low Incidence/Autistic will be responsible for creating meaningful learning experiences for all students. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of central concepts, methods of inquiry, and structures of disciplines. The teacher will engage students in an inquiry-based delivery model of instruction and utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technologies to meet the diverse needs of students. The role also involves maintaining accurate records, creating a safe learning environment, and communicating regularly with students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure actions align with Board policies and the strategic plan.
  • Participate in job training and professional growth opportunities.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning.
  • Engage students in an inquiry-based delivery model of instruction.
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for educational activities.
  • Use a wide range of instructional strategies and technologies.
  • Consider equitable resources and instructional practices.
  • Update and maintain necessary records accurately and completely.
  • Create and maintain a safe learning environment.
  • Demonstrate effective behavior management techniques.
  • Maintain discipline according to building expectations and district code of conduct.
  • Communicate necessary information regarding student progress and needs.
  • Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLC).
  • Create formative assessments aligned to district curriculum.
  • Analyze student data to drive differentiated instruction.

Requirements

  • Illinois Teaching License with appropriate endorsements and certifications.
  • Ability to demonstrate qualities aligned to core values of Character, Communication, Collaboration, and Continuous Improvement.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all school stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop relationships with students and parents.
  • Knowledge of various instructional strategies and techniques.
  • Knowledge of best teaching and assessing practices.
  • Working knowledge of State and National Standards.
  • Ability to organize and maintain student records.
