The FBI is seeking individuals with finance and accounting backgrounds to become Special Agents. This role requires candidates to apply their professional expertise and unique skill sets to various investigations, ensuring accountability, identifying criminal activity, uncovering hidden assets, and tracing transactions to their source. Special Agents come from diverse professional backgrounds, and those with finance and accounting expertise are particularly valuable in solving complex cases related to counterintelligence, cybersecurity, organized crime, and terrorism. Once onboard, agents can expect continued specialized training and opportunities to work on some of the Bureau's most intricate cases, providing challenges that are unique compared to the private sector. Candidates must adhere to strict standards of conduct and undergo a rigorous background investigation, including credit checks and a polygraph examination, to obtain a Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Clearance. Physical fitness is crucial, as candidates must pass all physical fitness requirements and a medical exam, which includes visual and hearing standards. The training at the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA lasts approximately 18 weeks, and upon graduation, agents may be assigned to one of the FBI's 56 Field Offices or remote resident agencies. Special Agents are expected to work a minimum of a 50-hour workweek, which may include irregular hours, and be on-call 24/7, including holidays and weekends. They must also be willing to participate in arrests, execute search warrants, and engage in other law enforcement activities. The selection process for Special Agents is challenging and can take over a year to complete, ensuring that only the most capable applicants are chosen.
