About the position

The Spanish Teacher at Edinburg North High School is responsible for providing students with effective distance, virtual, or face-to-face learning experiences in the Spanish language. The role aims to help students achieve their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth while developing the necessary competencies to succeed in society. The teacher will implement lesson plans, assess student learning, and create a conducive classroom environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans and activities for distance, virtual, or face-to-face learning.
  • Prepare lessons that accommodate different student learning styles and needs.
  • Present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines and district policies.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies and materials that reflect understanding of student needs.
  • Conduct assessments of student learning styles and use results to inform instructional activities.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for special education students as per IEP guidelines.
  • Work with staff to determine instructional goals and methods according to district requirements.
  • Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aides and volunteers.
  • Utilize technology to enhance the teaching and learning process.
  • Help students analyze and improve their study methods and habits.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Assume responsibility for assigned extracurricular activities and sponsor approved outside activities.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for student development.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Communicate with students and parents through various platforms and maintain an ongoing contact log.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned.
  • Knowledge of subjects assigned and general knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
