About The Position

Lutheran High School East (Cleveland Heights, OH) is seeking a full-time high school Spanish instructor for the 2026-27 school year. The school's mission is to prepare and equip students to excel in service, leadership, and learning while living as Disciples rooted and grounded in the love of Christ.

Requirements

  • Hold a four-year degree in education/Spanish
  • Specific ability to teach high school Spanish
  • Ability to fulfill the faculty expectations
  • Hold a four-year bachelor’s degree in teaching and Spanish - 7-12 education is preferred
  • Must hold, or be able to hold, a valid teaching license issued by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce
  • Must be able to pass an FBI & BCI background check

Responsibilities

  • Actively involved in chapel and other forms of worship and service
  • Take opportunities to pray with and mentor students
  • Model appropriate Christian attitude, language, and behavior with students, families, and other school employees
  • Maintain accurate attendance records
  • Enforce school dress code
  • Hold students accountable for proper discipline inside and outside of class
  • Communicate discipline issues appropriately with administration and parents
  • Prepare engaging lesson plans that challenge students individually on a daily basis
  • Integrate technology into lesson plans in a way that increases learning for students
  • Differentiate instruction to maximize student learning
  • Regularly grade assignments and return to students for feedback
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods to enhance student learning
  • Clearly state classroom policies and expectations and follow through on them
  • Properly prepare for faculty absence with appropriate lesson plans and seating charts
  • Update curriculum as needed
  • File mandated service hours
  • Attend mandatory admissions, recruitment, and community events
  • Regularly maintain gradebook
  • Call, email, or speak face-to-face with parents about academic, social, or spiritual concerns and document the contact in student SIS
  • Log weekly positive contacts in student SIS
  • Communicate student concerns with Administration
  • Communicate student safety concerns with administration & appropriate state/governmental agencies
  • Able to teach various levels of Spanish
  • Differentiates instruction for learners of all types
  • Integrates technology into daily instruction and lesson plans
