About the position
The Title I Specialized Programs Teacher Assistant III at Ward Elementary School is a part-time role focused on providing support to students in a Least Restricted Environment (LRE) setting. This position involves working one-on-one with children, particularly those with special education needs, to facilitate their learning and development.
Responsibilities
- Assist the teacher in implementing educational programs for students with special needs.
- Provide one-on-one support to students in the classroom setting.
- Help students with daily activities and tasks to promote independence.
- Monitor and document student progress and behavior.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff to create a supportive learning environment.
Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent (GED or foreign equivalency).
- Minimum of 48 credit hours from an accredited college or university or a passing score on the ETS para-pro assessment.
- Experience working with children.
- A valid driver's license or state-issued identification card.
- Current CPR/AED certification from an accredited organization.
Nice-to-haves
- Signing abilities for the hearing impaired program.
- One year of experience working with special education children.
