About the position

The Chemo Infusion RN at Mount Sinai Health System is responsible for providing safe and competent nursing care to patients undergoing chemotherapy. This role involves collaborating with healthcare teams, assessing patient needs, and ensuring quality care delivery in accordance with institutional policies. The RN will also participate in performance improvement initiatives and maintain a therapeutic environment for patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of standards of care and professional practice.
  • Assess and evaluate patient needs and responses to care, applying sound nursing judgment.
  • Provide direct, continuous care for a specific caseload of patients using the nursing process.
  • Coordinate patient care activities, including teaching, counseling, and discharge planning.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members about the patient's care plan.
  • Participate in performance improvement and nursing research activities.
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and consumer-oriented environment.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to plan and implement patient care.
  • Conduct discharge phone calls for selected patients.
  • Function as a professional role model and preceptor for students and new hires.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or an Associate Degree/Diploma in Nursing with current matriculation in a BSN program.
  • Valid NYS RN License.
  • BLS Certification.
  • Relevant clinical competence in nursing practice, with infusion experience required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Chemo/bio certification within 90 days of hire.
