About the position

The Space Vehicle Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T) Lead is a senior staff engineer role at Northrop Grumman, responsible for overseeing the assembly, integration, and testing of space vehicles. This position involves directing engineering processes, ensuring compliance with technical requirements, and managing project scope and schedules. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including program managers and customers, to deliver key solutions in the field of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance for space missions.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the execution of the overall assembly, integration, and test of the space vehicle.
  • Ensure the integrity of engineering processes and timely development of core engineering work products.
  • Provide inputs to Control Account Management (CAM), including cost and schedule tracking for the work scope.
  • Interface with the Program Manager, Chief Engineer, System Architect, and other engineering team leads.
  • Support the cost account manager for the Space Vehicle and potentially multiple other organizations.
  • Plan and execute core functions and ensure the project team has qualified staff to execute the program core functions.
  • Lead technical management and execution of the SV AI&T team.
  • Plan, execute, and close out program reviews and milestones.
  • Ensure system technical compliance with the program Statement of Work (SOW) and manage scope control of the technical team.
  • Manage vertical and horizontal technical integration throughout the product teams and program life cycle.
  • Oversee configuration management of the overall Program Baseline.
  • Collect, manage, and report program metrics and Technical Performance Measures (TPMs).
  • Manage risk and opportunity and track core engineering work products and associated program dependencies in the program schedule.
  • Coordinate between technical leads, program manager, and customer to ensure the integrity and executability of the program technical baseline.
  • Act as primary technical working group lead and interface with external parties.

Requirements

  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance at time of application.
  • Bachelor's degree with 14 years of experience, a Master's degree with 12 years of experience, or a PhD with 9 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, or related technical fields.
  • Experience leading technical teams.
  • Experience in systems development, integration, and test.
  • Demonstrated Multi-Disciplinary Engineering exposure (Software, Hardware, Electrical) and strong ability to communicate cross-functionally.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in STEM or technical management.
  • Risk and Opportunity Management experience.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVMS).
  • Experience with Space Vehicle design and integration.
  • Experience interfacing with large multi-site/multi-division teams.
