About the position

The Sous Chef position at Provincial Senior Living involves overseeing the dietary and kitchen team while supporting the Executive Chef. This role is crucial in ensuring the quality and safety of food service operations, managing food costs, and maintaining compliance with health regulations. The Sous Chef will also play a key role in meal preparation and presentation, contributing to a positive dining experience for residents.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision to dietary/kitchen team and support the Executive Chef.
• Assist in controlling food costs.
• Maintain controls and security of all food items and supplies in storage.
• Enforce policies and procedures of meal production, preparing, and coordinating.
• Manage meal service, including receiving, rotating, and inventory of products, ensuring correct portioning and plate presentation.
• Record and maintain Food Safety Equipment Records and Food Safety Temperature Records.
• Perform and assist in the rotation (FIFO - First In First Out) inventory and security of food and supplies.

Requirements

• Two (2) years' Sous Chef experience.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Must maintain current Food Services Sanitation certificate.
• Associates Degree in Culinary Arts preferred.
• Competent in organizational and time management skills.
• Demonstrate good judgment, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work weekends, evenings, and flexible hours.
