About the position
The Sous Chef at Wilshire Estates is responsible for preparing nutritious and appealing meals for active seniors in a new independent retirement community. This role emphasizes teamwork in the kitchen, ensuring efficient and safe operations while providing excellent customer service to residents. The ideal candidate will have a passion for improving the lives of others and will be expected to maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation.
Responsibilities
- Prepare nutritious and appetizing meals for residents.
- Work collaboratively with other culinary services team members.
- Ensure smooth, efficient, and safe operation of the kitchen area.
- Maintain food safety and sanitation practices.
- Communicate clearly and concisely with residents and staff.
- Meet deadlines and work well under time constraints.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Two years of experience in institutional or full-service restaurant cooking.
- Knowledge of food service sanitation practices.
- Ability to maintain food handlers permit as necessary to fulfill state regulations.
- Strong organizational skills and excellent customer service skills.
