About the position

GovCIO is currently seeking a Software Programmer 2 to join our team. This position is fully remote and will be based in Fairfax, VA. As a Software Programmer 2, you will be responsible for building and coding applications and/or modules using various programming languages such as C++, Visual Basic, ABAP, JAVA, and XHTML. You will also provide patches and upgrades to existing systems, ensuring that all software complies with established standards. Your role will involve planning system development and deployment, as well as designing graphical user interfaces (GUIs) tailored to meet user needs. In this position, you will prepare operating instructions, compile documentation of program development, and analyze system capabilities to address questions regarding program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. You may also be tasked with building add-on modules using application programming languages. Your responsibilities will include designing and coding applications according to specifications using appropriate tools, maintaining and modifying existing software applications, and analyzing detailed systems factors, including input and output requirements, information flow, hardware and software requirements, and alternative methods of problem resolution. Additionally, you will perform modifications and maintenance of operational programs and procedures, participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to standards and specifications, and write or revise program documentation, operations documentation, and user guides in accordance with established standards. This role requires a Bachelor's degree and 2 to 5 years of experience in software programming or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in software programming or commensurate experience.
