About The Position

Would you like to help lead some of our industries’ top software engineers? Our employees work on the world’s most advanced electronics – from detecting threats for F-35 pilots to illuminating the night for soldiers. Spanning air, land, sea, and space, we are developing the technology of tomorrow, delivered today. Drawing strength from our differences, we’re innovating for the future. And you can, too. Our flexible work environment provides you with a chance to change the world without giving up your personal life. We put our customers first – exemplified by our mission: “We Protect Those Who Protect Us®.” Sound like a team you want to be a part of? Come build your career with BAE Systems. In Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Systems, you’ll help develop systems that sense, control, exploit and disseminate actionable information to warfighters supporting a variety of missions. Our software-defined radios employ state-of-the-art electronic counter-countermeasures (ECCM), along with utilizing the latest embedded encryption. As part of the C4ISR business unit within the Electronics Systems (ES) sector of BAE Systems, we expand the modular, open architecture communication systems capabilities of the company. You will be an active member of the Software Engineering leadership team, shaping the culture and process while ensuring the staffing and technical needs of the business are met. You will work with your staff of supervisors and individual contributors to support our programs using your technical skills and experience to ensure the design, implementation, and sustainment of our software solutions meet and exceed customer expectations. You'll lead a group of more than 50 software engineers and direct report managers at our New Jersey locations, providing them with technical mentoring, career guidance and performance feedback. You’ll work closely with other product area leads in helping to set the technical direction for our products. In addition, you will work with peers at locations across the country to drive the craft of software engineering forward across the business. Technical roles will include architecture and design reviews, strategic initiative implementation, bid and proposal development, next generation solution planning and other areas of engagement that align with your skills and career aspirations. Qualified candidates should possess knowledge of software architectures, software industry best practices, and emerging software technologies. As a leader within the Software Engineering, you will help guide engineers in their career advancement as well as push software initiatives and best practices across the organization. You will work alongside other highly motivated engineers passionate about software and protecting our military service personnel. Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely. The remote percentage is based on project needs but will be less than 50%.
