Responsibilities

• Contribute to the brainstorming, design, and architecture of new solutions.
• Develop and test applications using bleeding-edge AI tools like ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, and other homegrown solutions.
• Design new software solutions or refactor existing ones to enhance performance and maintainability.
• Lead and collaborate with stakeholders to define project requirements, leveraging an understanding of tradeoffs and project costs.
• Translate functional and non-functional requirements into system designs, ensuring components interact seamlessly across teams.
• Independently design and develop products, lead code reviews, and ensure adherence to coding standards.
• Create and review complex test plans, identify test gaps, and ensure efficient execution of quality assurance testing.
• Lead efforts to enhance, reuse, and identify new developer tools.
• Stay abreast of new trends and technologies, mentor other engineers, and share knowledge.
• Engage with product engineering teams and product owners through code/design reviews, regular meetings, and participation in on-call rotations and incident responses.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Math, Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field + 6 years of related experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Math, Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field + 8 years of related experience.
• 11 years of directly related experience without a degree.
• Minimum four (4) years of experience in a leadership role, including mentoring developers and leading intra-team and cross-team projects.
• At least three (3) years of hands-on experience with container-based technologies.
• Exceptional Java programming skills, with substantial experience in Java microservices frameworks such as Spring or Quarkus.
• Profound knowledge of SQL, No-SQL databases, and data streaming/queuing technologies like AMQ and Kafka.
• Proficient in clean coding practices, architectural design, and software design principles.
• Extensive experience in migrating and modernizing software stacks.
• Solid understanding of secure coding practices and expertise in mitigating security vulnerabilities.

Nice-to-haves

• 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree.
• 3 or more years of experience with a PhD.
