The Privacy Engineering team is chartered to build infrastructure, services and tools that enable seamless privacy implementation across X products, services, and platforms in the most efficient and productive fashion. The team works to ensure that X builds products and systems which respect users and keep our promises (and regulatory obligations). This team innovates the idea of privacy tooling and services anticipating current and future needs, providing our product engineers the ability to respect privacy while improving the X user experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build tools, infrastructure, and frameworks to support customer privacy needs.
  • Innovate privacy infrastructure, tooling, and auditing frameworks to drive user trust.
  • Collaborate with diverse partners to solve novel and ambiguous problems.
  • Focus on efficiency and reducing risk to the organization while meeting customer obligations.

Requirements

  • B.S. and/or M.S. in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience.
  • Knowledgeable about core CS concepts such as common data structures and algorithms.
  • Proficiency with at least one of the following languages: Scala, Java, and/or any JVM based language.
  • Development experience with a solid foundation in backend and distributed systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience in building enterprise tools/internal applications.
  • Prior experience working for a consumer Internet company.
  • SQL knowledge with working on databases such as MySQL, Vertica and PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with working on distributed systems like Hadoop and cloud technologies like GCP and AWS.
  • Experience working with teams distributed across geographies and functions.
  • Experience with on-call responsibilities.
