About The Position

The Oracle Veteran Internship Program (OVIP) is a paid internship program designed to expose transitioning military veterans and active-duty Military Spouses to the corporate culture, provide hands-on job-skill training and experience, and offer enhanced professional and personal development. The program aims to aid veterans, transitioning servicemembers, and military spouses new to the corporate sector in their transition to a career in the private or public sector. Interns will work closely with corporate leadership, military veteran coaches, and HR professionals, and engage in on-the-job training and professional development in various fields, including information technology. The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) team offers opportunities to build and operate massive scale, integrated cloud services in a distributed, multi-tenant cloud environment. OCI is committed to providing the best cloud products to meet customer needs and offers unique opportunities for engineers to solve difficult problems in a distributed, highly available, and virtualized service infrastructure. Engineers at every level have a significant technical and business impact designing and building innovative new systems. The Virtual Networking team within OCI is responsible for delivering innovative networks with high performance characteristics. The Network Load Balancer team, specifically, involves the implementation and operation of highly available, massive scale, integrated cloud services.

Requirements

  • Experience with application development
  • Knowledge of programming in any major language such as: Java, JavaScript, C/C++, Python, GoLang
  • Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems
  • Working familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures
  • Understanding of databases, NoSQL systems, storage, and distributed persistence technologies
  • Excellent communication skills in written and verbal forms, and an ability to communicate complex technical issues to a range of technical and non-technical audiences (management, peers)
  • Understanding of agile development methodologies
