The Serverless Container Management team is at the heart of the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) revolution. Our mission is to ensure that 'if it’s in a container, it works well and fast'. We engineer the reliability, performance, and expedient delivery of execution sandboxes and I/O interfaces for Cloud Run, Google Cloud Functions (GCF), and App Engine. We manage infrastructure that supports millions of applications, handling over 200 million unique container startups per day and 5+ million QPS. Our team innovates on secure sandboxing technologies and container file systems to provide a platform that allows serverless products to run arbitrary user code at massive scale. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
  • 2 years of experience developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or networks, including experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
  • Experience working with container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) or Linux internals/kernel interfaces.
  • Experience with C++ or Go within a production environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or related technical fields.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms applied to complex infrastructure problems like memory management or performance optimization.
  • Experience developing accessible and secure technologies, specifically involving sandboxing (e.g., gVisor) or virtualization.
  • Expertise in Cloud Infrastructure systems, including experience with public cloud providers and serverless/FaaS architectures.
  • Strong collaborative skills with a track record of putting the user first when designing critical infrastructure components.

Responsibilities

  • Write high-performance product or system development code in C++ and Go to advance container-serving and file system capabilities.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies for serverless execution and I/O interfaces.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content for the serverless one community and adapt content based on product updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
