About the position

The Software Development Engineer III position at Amazon's Center for Infrastructure Software and Controls focuses on developing and improving critical software solutions for the Amazon Data Center Network. The ideal candidate will engage in various layers of software development, from embedded systems to cloud-based solutions, ensuring effective integration and deployment of automation control systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy complex automation control systems and supporting infrastructure.
• Work across multiple layers of the automation stack, including embedded PLC and DCS firmware, SCADA, and HMI user interfaces.
• Create back-end control system software and cloud-based monitoring and analytics platforms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including controls engineers, IT/OT specialists, and operations personnel.
• Oversee control system deployments, commissioning, and support at customer sites and manufacturing facilities.

Requirements

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language.
• 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.

Nice-to-haves

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
