About the position

The Sociology Adjunct Faculty position involves teaching courses as assigned, with a focus on evening courses for the Spring 2025 semester. Faculty members are expected to possess a willingness to teach in person and/or be certified to teach online. Responsibilities include adhering to the course syllabus, incorporating diverse perspectives, and utilizing various teaching methods and technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches assigned courses in accordance with the description published in the catalog and the approved course syllabus.
  • Incorporates an appreciation of diverse lifestyles, cultures, and national perspectives into courses.
  • Utilizes library resources, writing as an instructional method, and academic technologies in courses.
  • Meets all scheduled class meetings and advises the Division Dean/Assistant Dean of absences in a timely manner.
  • Maintains accurate grade and attendance records for students and submits required reports.
  • Submits grades by the published deadline.
  • Participates in the assessment of learning outcomes and uses results in course planning.
  • Plans in advance to ensure availability of supplies, textbooks, and classroom equipment.
  • Submits progress reports on students and discusses any problems requiring special attention.
  • Adheres to College policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Sociology required unless otherwise specified.
  • Some teaching experience is required.
  • Unofficial college transcripts must be submitted prior to interview.

Nice-to-haves

  • Teaching experience at the community college level.
