About the position

The School Social Worker provides educationally related social work services for students with disabilities, focusing on their social-emotional and adaptive needs. This role involves collaboration with students, families, and educational staff to implement individualized programs and support students' adjustment in school and community settings.

Responsibilities

• Complete routine reports and tasks promptly and efficiently
• Participate in student planning and program development
• Implement individual student programs
• Examine and implement change as appropriate
• Work productively with colleagues, parents, and students
• Demonstrate accurate knowledge of the field
• Utilize appropriate assessment techniques and procedures
• Maintain a professional demeanor as defined by the code of ethics of the education professional
• Conduct individualized social-emotional-adaptive assessments of students and their families
• Employ methods of practice that enable students and families to function adequately
• Evaluate services using ongoing appropriate methods
• Prepare social or developmental histories for students with disabilities
• Provide group and individual counseling for students and families receiving special education
• Address problems in student living situations affecting school adjustment
• Mobilize school and community resources for special education benefits
• Attend Multidisciplinary Team meetings to discuss student needs and planning
• Maintain necessary and appropriate licensure
• Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor

Requirements

• Must have current MSW license
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with parents, students, and school personnel
