About the position

The Social Worker Supervisor at York Street Project's housing program is responsible for overseeing the psychosocial and clinical support provided to vulnerable and at-risk populations. This full-time, onsite role involves managing staff and interns, assessing the needs of housing unstable families, and developing individual service plans to promote self-sufficiency and independence.

Responsibilities

  • Assign, schedule, monitor, and control work for staff and social work interns.
  • Evaluate and manage performance of staff.
  • Interview, hire, and orient new employees.
  • Train employees as necessary and make salary recommendations.
  • Assess the psycho-social status and needs of housing unstable families and their children.
  • Recruit new families for housing programs and participate in the interview and intake process.
  • Assist in the development of individual service plans.
  • Carry out social evaluations through individual therapy sessions and plan interventions based on findings.
  • Maintain clinical records on all participants.
  • Utilize the internal database (Apricot) to maintain client documents.
  • Utilize the national homeless database (HMIS) to manage intakes and discharges.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community agencies/partners.
  • Serve as liaison between participants and community agencies/partners.
  • Act as support service team's point of contact for specialty programming and services.
  • Provide information and referral services for community resources to participants.
  • Attend interdisciplinary group meetings and community meetings.
  • Participate in planning and executing activities and events that improve the quality of life for families.
  • Research and keep current with evidence-based therapeutic services, tools, and clinical models.
  • Supervise MSW interns, including instruction and assessment.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work
  • Valid and current LMSW license
  • Seminar in Field Instruction (SIFI) certified or willingness to complete
  • Prior work with poor/minority groups, especially young women and children
  • Ability to practice on individual, family, and group levels
  • Ability to analyze, assess, and intervene on a systemic level
  • Possess diagnostic and treatment skills
  • Theoretical appreciation and practice in family system model, Comprehensive Youth Centered Service Model, Trauma Informed Care, Critical Time Intervention, Motivational Interviewing, and Strengths Based therapeutic models
  • Knowledgeable of Homeless Management Information System (HMIS)
  • Experience in supervising and managing staff
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with case management or related software and databases
