About the position

The Social Worker (BHIP) position within the U.S. Government is focused on providing comprehensive psychosocial assessments and treatment to Veterans and their families. The role requires the ability to work with diverse populations, addressing emotional, medical, and social issues through individual, group, and family counseling. The incumbent will collaborate with an interdisciplinary treatment team to develop and implement treatment plans, ensuring effective communication and support for Veterans' needs.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychosocial assessments of individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Work with patients and families experiencing emotional, medical, and social problems.
  • Implement treatment modalities under supervision to achieve treatment goals.
  • Establish and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with Veterans and their families.
  • Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Provide consultation to treatment team members regarding psychosocial needs.
  • Serve as a liaison between Veterans and community resources.
  • Provide case management services throughout the continuum of care.
  • Assist Veterans in coping with loss and grief experiences.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and staff.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Master's degree in social work from an accredited institution.
  • Licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level.
  • Basic knowledge of medical and mental diagnoses, disabilities, and treatment procedures.
  • Ability to learn and utilize software programs used by the VHA.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in evidence-based psychotherapies.
  • Several years of post-licensure experience.
