Reporting to the Director of Operations Management, leads the multidisciplinary oncology team by providing clinical and operational supervision to oncology MSW, LSCW, and LICSW Social Workers. Provides support to the oncology team, including developing and managing day-to-day operations, schedules, and coverage for all Oncology patients.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • MSW and LICSW Required
  • Five years of postgraduate clinical social work, behavioral health experience, including supervision of staff or students in a health or mental health setting.
  • Advanced knowledge of the professional field of social work.
  • Demonstrated skills in providing clinical assessment and psychotherapy, and differential diagnoses.
  • Demonstrated ability to work very effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong computer skills, Epic experience a plus

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of experience in oncology social work is preferred but not required.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to approach problems in a systematic method using the ability to synthesize data and suggest recommendations
  • Demonstrates high standards for accuracy and attention to detail
  • Demonstrates technical savvy and strong desire to learn new systems and technology
  • Thrives working independently and takes ownership of projects/patient records

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all human resource management, including hiring, performance reviews, mentoring, and corrective action if needed.
  • Provides clinical supervision for ongoing professional and skills development; Assures supervisees have the necessary training and tools for optimal clinical care.
  • Leads regular peer supervision.
  • Manages a complement of oncology patients and independently provides patient and family-centered care through clinical psychosocial assessment and intervention, including crisis response, individual, couples, family, and group interventions, and short-term bereavement support in the ambulatory or inpatient setting.
  • Works with senior leaders on strategic planning initiatives.
  • Participates and leads in departmental performance improvement initiatives, developing and updating policies, protocols, and processes to ensure the safety and well-being of patients and staff.
  • Participates in the selection and oversight of Oncology interns/students.
  • Keeps the social work staff current with changes in insurance information, documentation requirements, policies, and required forms that relate to oncology services.
  • Completes all appropriate documentation according to established standards and within established time frames.
  • Collaborates with providers and community agencies as indicated for patient care.
  • Participates in educational opportunities for professional growth, personal well-being, and as required for license renewal.
  • Perform all other related assigned duties
