The Field Liaison position is a non-classified teaching position in the Helen Bader School of Social Welfare Social Work Program at UW-Milwaukee. The Field Education Program provides students with direct social work practice experience in the multi-cultural community of Milwaukee, and surrounding communities. The Liaison serves as a link between undergraduate and graduate social work students and field placement agencies. Milwaukee is a city rich with diversity and most of the field agencies located within the city offer excellent opportunities to serve at- risk individuals, families and groups who possess unique strengths while experiencing a variety of human needs. The Field Education Program has an emphasis on the development of professional social work competencies and practice behaviors including: professional identity; ethical practice; diversity and difference; social, economic and environmental justice; practice-informed research and research- informed practice; policy practice; and social work practice with individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities. Liaison responsibilities include the development and maintenance of agency practicum sites, training of and linkage with Field Instructors; placement and oversight of students in their field education practicum; instructional responsibility for integrated field seminars, student and Field Instructor orientations and trainings; and contribution toward ongoing Field Program development. This position will be focused on the development of agency placements outside of southeastern Wisconsin. The Liaison must have the capacity to assist in the education and professional development of a diverse group.
