About the position

The Social Studies Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and presenting instructional activities that facilitate student learning in social studies. The role emphasizes effective classroom management, instructional presentation, and monitoring of student performance to support educational and social development. The teacher may also supervise teacher assistants and is expected to create a positive learning environment that encourages student engagement and success.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organize instructional materials and equipment for lessons.
• Establish and enforce classroom rules and procedures for student behavior.
• Begin lessons with a review of previous materials and introduce new learning objectives.
• Present lessons using clear and understandable language, providing relevant examples.
• Monitor student performance and provide timely feedback on assignments and classwork.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress.
• Interact fairly and effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Carry out assigned non-instructional duties and adhere to school policies.

Requirements

• North Carolina ESL K-12 Licensure preferred.
• Experience in teaching social studies or related subjects.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Ability to create engaging lesson plans and instructional activities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
