About The Position
This position is for a Social Studies Classroom Teacher for the 2026-2027 School Year. The teacher will be responsible for implementing the educational program for students, diagnosing their achievement levels, and planning, prescribing, and directing learning activities. The role involves motivating students, creating a conducive learning atmosphere, evaluating student progress, and assisting with student counseling for academic, personal, social, and career improvement. The teacher will also implement school or district curricular goals, ensure substitutes have necessary information, prepare and follow effective lesson plans, and assist in curriculum development and assessment of instructional material needs. Additionally, the position requires communication with parents, supervision of students in various school areas, enforcement of school regulations, participation in in-service programs, and maintaining student records. The teacher will also sponsor clubs, take responsibility for issued materials, adhere to district policies, supervise bus students, attend faculty meetings, and stay informed about curriculum developments. Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
- Diagnose the achievement level of each student.
- Plan, prescribe and direct the learning activities of students.
- Motivate students to learn.
- Create and maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning in both appearance of instructional station and activities therein.
- Evaluate progress of students and inform students thereof on a continuous basis.
- Assist with the counseling of students for their academic, personal, social and career improvement.
- Implement school or district curricular goals.
- Ensure that substitutes will have all information necessary for effective instruction.
- Prepare and follow effective lesson plans.
- Assist in the development of school and district curriculums.
- Assist in assessing school and district needs for instructional materials and equipment.
- Prepare for principal, lists of material and equipment needs for instructional assignment.
- Inform students of school or district regulations that are pertinent to them.
- Confer with parents on students progress and attitudes.
- Supervise students in corridors, in rest rooms, in lunchrooms, on school grounds, etc. in accordance with Board policy. Such supervision that is on an assigned basis should be equitably distributed.
- Assist in the enforcement of school regulations at all times.
- Participate in all prescribed in-service programs.
- Maintain, and make reports on, necessary records for pupil accounting, pupil progress, material and equipment inventories, collection of money, etc.
- Check attendance and report absences and tardies.
- Sponsor clubs and activities on an equitable basis.
- Take responsibility for issued materials and equipment.
- Know Board of Education policies, Desegregation Plan, district and school guidelines and regulations, and adhere to same.
- Supervise early and late bus students on an equitable assigned basis.
- Attend faculty meetings.
- Participate in professional activities that are related to subject area assignment.
- Keep informed of the latest curriculum developments.
- Other duties as assigned.
