Description This position is for the Cumberland Service Region Recruitment and Certification team and will be housed in Clay County. This position will provide services to the counties of Rockcastle, Jackson, Laurel, Clay, Knox, Whitley, Bell, and Harlan. The Kentucky Department for Community Based Services (DCBS) is a multi-faceted agency that provides services and programs to enhance the self-sufficiency of families; improve safety and permanency for children and vulnerable adults; and, engage families and community partners in a collaborative decision-making process. DCBS seeks a Part Time (works less than 100 hours per month) Social Service Worker I who is driven to succeed in helping people and advance family self-sufficiency. The Social Service Worker I is a skilled team member, providing a vital link between the children, families and local community partners. The employee is expected to perform at the highest quality to ensure services to the vulnerable citizens. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Complete foster parent applications * Conduct assessments on potential Department for Community Based (DCBS) resource homes and make recommendations for approval. * Acquires knowledge and skill in the Recruitment and Certification program area. * Complete Annual Strengths and Needs Assessments for DCBS foster parents. * Participate in on the job training to assist with services to recruit and train prospective DCBS foster or adoptive parents. * Complete independent adoptions as needed. * Conduct home visits to DCBS resource homes; ensures all documentation is current * Assist in locating and placement of children into DCBS foster homes. * Complete home evaluations on family relatives and fictive kin. * Compact studies for other states, foster home reviews, custody evaluations, and other Out of Home Care (OOHC) related items as assigned. * Provide back up for Child and Adult protection and Foster Care teams. * Other duties as assigned.
