About The Position

As a member of the College of Health Professions (CHP) Creative Communications team, the Social Media Content Creator supports the college’s social media presence by producing engaging, platform-ready content across Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook. The ideal candidate is a hands-on creator who enjoys shooting, editing, and producing content for social media and thrives in a production-focused environment. This position is responsible for creating photo, video, and graphic content that highlights student experiences, academic programs, and college initiatives, helping bring social campaigns to life through high-quality, on-brand visual storytelling. Working closely with the Marketing Content Manager and Marketing Program Managers, the Social Media Content Creator supports the management and monitoring of all CHP-associated social media accounts.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree and one year relevant program experience.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.
  • Ability to create and edit visual content (graphics, photos, video).
  • Strong working knowledge of Canva, Microsoft Office, and scheduling tools such as Hootsuite, Meta, or Sprout.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Marketing Content Manager and Marketing Program Managers in managing and monitoring all CHP-associated Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook accounts (college and program-specific), including scheduling, community management.
  • Assist in campaign execution across all channels, ensuring timely and accurate deployment of content.
  • Support the development of monthly content calendars through idea generation, content suggestions, and channel-specific insights.
  • Monitor performance, trends, and engagement opportunities to inform ongoing content optimization.
  • Ensure all social media activity adheres to university guidelines and brand standards.
  • Partner with academic programs, Marketing Content Manager, and the Marketing Program Managers to source content and support social media execution aligned with annual marketing plans.
  • Serve as a resource for academic programs, providing technical assistance and training on social media best practices.
  • Coordinate with program leaders and administrative staff to gather content in support of social calendars and ensure alignment with communication priorities.
  • Help identify and elevate program-level stories, milestones, and opportunities for broader channel visibility.
  • Create compelling graphics and short-form video content for use on social media platforms that adhere to MUSC brand standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to source and develop content that highlights program achievements, events, and student experiences.
  • Edit and optimize visual content for each platform’s requirements and best practices.
  • Contribute creative ideas and formats to support social media campaigns and content calendars.
  • Capture photo and video content at events and within academic program environments.
  • Plan and execute basic shoots, including coordination with subjects, locations, and timing.
  • Assist with editing raw photo and video assets for use across digital channels.
  • Organize and maintain visual asset libraries for ongoing marketing use.
  • Maintain documentation of content calendars, campaign results, and stakeholder communications.
  • Assist with special projects and provide backup support for college-level social media as needed.
  • Participate in regular meetings with the Creative Communications team, sharing updates that align with program goals and marketing strategy.
