About the position
The State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) plays a crucial role in providing basic nursing care and assisting patients with daily living activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This position is essential for maintaining a safe and supportive environment for patients, ensuring their comfort and well-being during their stay at the hospital.
Responsibilities
- Assist with providing comprehensive nursing care including pre and post-operative preparation, positioning of patients, and ambulation of patients.
- Address dietary needs, including feeding of patients, and provide AM and PM care.
- Facilitate the admission, discharge, and transfer of patients, and care for patient belongings.
- Perform unit receptionist duties as required.
- Assist with patient teaching as directed by the nurse.
- Maintain a safe environment for patient care, ensuring proper use of equipment and bed rails.
- Report unusual incidents and significant changes in patient condition to the registered nurse or team leader.
- Demonstrate the ability to accurately determine patients' vital signs and document patient care in the EMR.
- Understand and comply with all departmental and hospital policies and procedures, including safety programs and emergency preparedness.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the department, eliminating hazards.
Requirements
- Valid State Tested Nursing Assistant license required.
- BLS Certification required upon hire and must be maintained.
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology is preferred.
- Previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician's office is preferred.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and handle stress efficiently.

- Strong computer skills, including EMR and Microsoft Outlook.
