To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a 3rd shift SMT Operator located in Walker, MI. Reporting to the Production Manager, the SMT Operator (Sun- Thurs -11pm- 7am) role involves being responsible for the set-up of SMT components. Adjusts the speed and temperature and makes other adjustments to accommodate varying types and sizes of products.

Requirements

  • Must be familiar with Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) electronic components and SMT assembly process.
  • Must successfully complete solder training course (Flex provided).
  • Must be familiar with and able to use hand tools, screwdrivers, pliers, cutters, etc.
  • High School or GED degree.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior electronics experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set-up of SMT components.
  • Adjusts the speed and temperature and makes other adjustments to accommodate varying types and sizes of products.
  • Set-up and operate automated SMT assembly equipment including Screen Printer, Glue Dispensing Machine, Pick and Place Machine, and Reflow Oven.
  • Properly clean boards.
  • Perform basic soldering and rework of SMT components.
  • Picks components and prepares kits for manufacturing.
  • Perform visual inspections of SMT assemblies.
  • Maintain accurate job tracking records.
  • Interpret IPC-A-610 standards for acceptability and customer specifications.
  • Use hand tools, screwdrivers, pliers, cutters, etc.
  • Maintain a neat appearance about self and work area.
  • Accountable for quality, quantity and inspection of work performed.
  • Practice safe work habits and report unsafe conditions to supervisor.
  • Train co-workers and assist when problems arise.
