About the position

The Supported Living Services (SLS) Instructor position at Tomorrow House Supportive Living involves providing personalized support to adults with developmental disabilities, promoting their independence and helping them achieve life-enhancing goals. The role requires working closely with individuals in their homes and community settings, assisting with daily living skills, and facilitating community integration.

Responsibilities

  • Support individuals with developmental disabilities in achieving their personal goals and maintaining independence.
  • Assist with daily living skills such as meal preparation, grocery shopping, personal hygiene, and household management.
  • Help individuals focus on community integration by navigating local resources, participating in recreational activities, and accessing transportation options.
  • Provide transportation and support for community outings, medical appointments, and other activities.
  • Implement individualized support plans (ISP) and record daily progress in detailed shift reports.
  • Promote a safe, respectful, and positive environment.
  • Collaborate with team members, families, and service coordinators to ensure optimal care and support.

Requirements

  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred but not required (training provided).
  • Valid California driver's license.
  • Regular and unlimited access to a vehicle that is insured and registered with the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to assist individuals in navigating and integrating into their community.
  • Commitment to fostering independence, dignity, and respect for individuals served.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
