About the position

The Slitter Exit Operator is responsible for assisting the Slitter Operator in preparing the processing line for production runs, monitoring machine operations, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met. This role involves operating mechanical equipment to remove finished coils from the slitter, maintaining accurate records, and leading a team to ensure efficiency in operations. The position requires adherence to safety policies and a commitment to continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Slitter Operator to prepare processing line for production run
  • Monitors machine operation ensuring strip feeds properly and machine operates safely
  • Maintains all related paperwork
  • Follows set-up steps as described in production set-up information and QDC procedures
  • Performs First-off and Last-off conformance checks ensuring parts meet customer specifications
  • Performs Quality checks as per in process check sheets
  • Performs product/process audits and report findings internally as set out in procedures
  • Monitors slitting process for defects
  • Drops off coil in and out of pit and takes up finished coil
  • Ensures ALL Exposed Product procedures are followed as described in production set-up information
  • Bands finished coils as directed by slitter operator
  • Operates exit table and mechanical equipment to remove finished coils from slitter
  • Responsible for the Safe and Efficient operation of slitting line and all personnel
  • Assists banding line operator to remove finished coils from the slitter
  • Assists slitter operator in the completion of SL's and logs
  • Ensures packaging meets customer specifications
  • Ensures proper tagging of finished parts and transfer to finished goods area
  • Proven team leader in assigning tasks and resolving issues to ensure efficiency standards are met
  • Leads team to successful tooling changeovers
  • Maintains neat and accurate records
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of job-related experience in handling Automotive Exposed and Non-Exposed product
