About the position

The Site Support Specialist position at Community Action, Inc. of Central Texas is a part-time role focused on assisting the Adult Education program. The specialist will support the Adult Education Instructor and Coordinator in various tasks, including student orientation, data entry, and outreach efforts, aimed at helping low-income families gain the skills necessary for living wage jobs. This role emphasizes effective communication, teamwork, and a commitment to lifelong learning.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Adult Education Instructor and/or Coordinator in facilitating new student orientation, including greeting and registering new students and administering baseline assessments.
  • Maintain retention in the classroom by participating in outreach and recruitment efforts as assigned.
  • Address walk-in inquiries about the Adult Education program and site services.
  • Perform data entry duties using database software to record student hours and prepare reports for the Texas Education Adults Management System (TEAMS).
  • Assist in administering or tracking required progress assessments on students as assigned.
  • Prepare monthly attendance, achievement, activity, and other reports as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Participate in workshops and in-service training for personal and professional growth as required by the Texas Workforce Commission.
  • Train and supervise interns, substitutes, volunteers, and others as applicable or assigned.
  • Work with leadership teams to establish and meet program goals outlined in the strategic plan.
  • Perform general clerical tasks related to the Adult Education program.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Computer literate, particularly in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Google)
  • At least 18 years old
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Daily access to a vehicle
  • Vehicle Insurance (Personal Injury and Liability)

  • Experience in office/management
  • Experience working with diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Experience working in collaborative or team environments
  • Bilingual (Spanish) communication skills
