About the position

The Siemens Gamesa Wind Turbine Troubleshooter position is a full-time role focused on identifying and resolving faults in Siemens Gamesa wind turbine generators, specifically the G145 model. The role involves traveling to various wind farm sites across the U.S. and Canada, performing troubleshooting on hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems, and ensuring the operational efficiency of the turbines. The position also includes leading small teams, maintaining safety standards, and developing advanced troubleshooting skills through on-the-job training.

Responsibilities

  • Identify common, recurring, and major component faults on Siemens G145 wind turbine generators.
  • Travel to various wind farm sites across the U.S. and Canada for job assignments.
  • Troubleshoot problems on systems including hydraulics, electrical, and mechanical to ensure operational functionality.
  • Develop advanced troubleshooting knowledge and skills on-site in collaboration with other competent individuals.
  • Lead small teams and be accountable for the safety, competency, and productivity of assigned individuals.
  • Keep records, maintain documentation, and report technical and safety issues as required by company policy.
  • Maintain and follow safety procedures as required by company policy.
  • Assist or perform component replacement, retrofits, and other special assignments.
  • Continue to develop and expand wind maintenance skillset through on-the-job training and train others in performing service work.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of successful experience troubleshooting Siemens Gamesa G114, G126, G132, SG145 or Vestas 3.X or 4.X wind turbines.
  • Valid passport for travel to and work in Canada for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work an 8-week on, 1 week off rotation.
  • Physically able to safely climb wind turbines up to 90m+ (300+ feet) and meet the physical demands of the position.
  • Solid knowledge of hydraulics and electrical systems.
  • Maintenance experience, including knowledge of using grease guns, filter changes, and similar service tasks.
  • Valid and current driving license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must be 21 years of age to drive a company vehicle.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Satisfactory criminal background check.
  • GWO BST (Basic Safety Training) certification.
  • GWO BTT (Basic Technical Training) certification.
  • Siemens Gamesa Technical eLearning completion.

Nice-to-haves

  • Training or experience with Touchscreen Controller Hand Terminals.
