About the position
The Accountant-Intermediate position at Sparrow Hospital is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and compliance of all accounting transactions. This role involves performing complex accounting duties, preparing financial entries, and conducting analyses to maintain data integrity. The accountant will collaborate with operational leaders and assist in budget preparation while striving for efficiency in accounting processes.
Responsibilities
- Prepare necessary entries to record financial transactions accurately and timely.
- Prepare monthly analysis/reconciliations of various general ledger accounts.
- Perform overall reasonableness tests and other procedures necessary to verify data integrity.
- Improve analysis/reconciliation of GL accounts, automating whenever possible.
- Review and analyze financial and statistical data related to assigned responsibilities.
- Collaborate with operational leaders to assist in drafting the annual departmental operating budget.
- Identify and participate in implementing solutions to issues affecting financial records accuracy and accounting process efficiency.
- Independently meet monthly deadlines.
- Exhibit a desire to learn new things.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years experience in accounting or related business.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related business degree with a minimum of 15 credit hours of Accounting courses.
- Previous accounting experience in the healthcare industry is preferred.
