About the position

The Shortage Control Lead at Burlington Stores is responsible for mitigating theft and fraud in high shortage areas of the store while promoting a safe and secure environment. This role involves engaging with customers and associates, training Shortage Control Associates, and driving awareness of theft prevention strategies. The position requires a confident and positive demeanor to influence behaviors and reduce theft effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provide an effective deterrent to dishonest behaviors throughout the store by demonstrating a command presence.
  • Maintain a safe and secure store for customers and associates with strong attention to detail and communication.
  • Engage positively with customers and associates in high-risk areas for shortage.
  • Display knowledge of top shortage areas and support programs to reduce theft.
  • Document indicators of external theft and share with leadership.
  • Support the store manager with internal controls and operational oversight.
  • Assist in onboarding and ongoing training of associates in shortage reduction programs.
  • Help prepare and execute the semi-annual inventory process.

Requirements

  • Experience in retail or loss prevention is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage with customers and associates.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
