About The Position

The Shipping & Receiving Operator position is responsible for performing all tasks involved in the shipping and receiving of materials within the warehouse. This role adheres to standard work methods, practices, and safe habits to ensure materials are received and shipped according to instructions. The position requires the ability to handle various materials, manage inventory, prepare outgoing shipments, and maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with team members, assisting with inventory audits, and performing tasks at the discretion of the Director of Operations. A key aspect of this role is the certification in Hazmat shipping, ensuring proper packaging, documentation, and shipment of hazardous materials.

Requirements

  • Must be able to stand and walk for 90% of the day.
  • Must be able to execute strenuous, sometimes repetitive physical work such as lifting, pushing or pulling objects up to 55 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Oral communication skills which are clear, concise and effective.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Possesses mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on manufacturing equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic computer, typing, and SAP experience preferred but not required.
  • Shipping/Receiving experience preferred with the ability to multi-task and stay organized.
  • Hazmat Shipping certified; Has certification on how to properly package, document and ship Hazardous materials locally and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Unloading/Loading materials using fork-lift/pallet jacks from LTL carriers or Production.
  • Receiving, unloading, and verifying incoming shipments against purchase orders, invoices, or the inventory system.
  • Inspecting and sorting all received items, ensuring they are in good condition.
  • Reporting any inventory discrepancies or damaged items to the Supervisor.
  • Placing items in designated warehouse racking and updating inventory records.
  • Preparing outgoing shipments, including printing, picking, packing, and closing orders.
  • Determining the method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
  • Examining outgoing shipments to ensure they meet customer specifications.
  • Using Fed Ex/UPS systems or LTL websites to set up shipments and recording tracking information into SAP.
  • Completing and filing all applicable shipping-related documents and records.
  • Maintaining inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized warehouse environment, following safety guidelines.
  • Collaborating with team members to optimize warehouse processes and improve efficiency.
  • Assisting in conducting regular inventory audits and reconciliations.
  • Performing additional tasks and responsibilities at the discretion of the Director of Operations.
  • Properly packaging, documenting, and shipping hazardous materials locally and internationally.
