About the position

The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for verifying and maintaining records for incoming and outgoing shipments, assisting the Supervisor in various duties, and acting as a backup when necessary. The role involves examining shipment contents, preparing shipping documents, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations while managing materials within the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Verify and keep records for incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Assist Supervisor in all prescribed duties and act as backup when required.
  • Examine shipment contents and compare with records such as manifests, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy.
  • Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route materials.
  • Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping.
  • Contact carrier representatives to arrange shipping and delivery of materials.
  • Deliver or route materials to departments using various means of in-plant transportation.
  • Assemble packing containers and fabricate if necessary.
  • Compute amounts such as space available, shipping, storage, or demurrage charges.
  • Compare shipping routes or methods to determine the least environmental impact.
  • Assist Supervisor with the final disposition of recyclable materials.
  • Assist Supervisor with FG warehouse management and planned orders.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Five plus years of work experience within a manufacturing setting servicing HVAC, industrial, and aerospace markets.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Certified to use Forklift, reach-truck, and scissor lift.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management System policies, goals, and objectives.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Scissor lift operation.
  • Knowledge of Lean principles and practices.
