About the position

The Shipping Manager at Lahlouh is responsible for leading and managing the Shipping Department to ensure timely, efficient, and cost-effective shipping operations. This role involves mentoring and training staff, overseeing shipping processes, and ensuring compliance with company standards and customer requirements. The Shipping Manager plays a crucial role in coordinating departmental activities, maintaining workflow efficiency, and collaborating with other departments to integrate shipping with business systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, train, and coach the Shipping Department to meet shipping deadlines.
• Manage PTO scheduling, annual performance reviews, and disciplinary actions as needed.
• Ensure compliance with customer requirements, safety, and quality standards.
• Coordinate departmental activities including material and supplies setup.
• Monitor Shipping Department inventory and create purchase requisitions.
• Act as a back-up for staff and perform their duties as necessary.
• Create and provide accurate daily, weekly, and monthly reports to upper management.
• Vet and hire qualified Shipping team members and structure training schedules.
• Negotiate transportation rates or services and resolve transportation issues.
• Collaborate with other departments to integrate shipping with business systems.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3-5 years in a managerial position with direct reports.
• Minimum of 5-10 years in a shipping capacity (clerk, freight handler, driver, etc.).
• Working knowledge of domestic and international shipping requirements.
• Experience with FedEx and UPS shipping systems and processing batch shipment labels.
• Advanced knowledge of computers, knowledge of PSI and/or Prestige is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

• Certification in Power Industrial Trucks is a plus.
