About the position

The Shipping Clerk position at Europastry involves managing shipping and receiving processes, ensuring accurate data entry for inventory management, and providing excellent customer service. This role is essential for maintaining the flow of goods in and out of the distribution center, requiring attention to detail and effective communication with warehouse personnel and carriers.

Responsibilities

  • Compiles and maintains records regarding shipments, put away and letdown paperwork.
  • Ensures timely data entry to maintain up-to-date inventory numbers.
  • Assists with all shipping and receiving procedures.
  • Checks drivers in and out throughout the day.
  • Handles bills of lading (BOLs) and ensures paperwork for shipments is complete and accurate.
  • Obtains put-away and letdown paperwork from the outgoing shift and enters the information into the system.
  • Creates new complete inventory for the current shift.
  • Obtains outbound paperwork from the Shipping Supervisor and completes the transaction in the system.
  • Obtains signatures from outside carriers on bills of lading and delivery receipts.
  • Works with department members to identify and develop corrective action plans for inaccurate/damaged shipments.
  • Identifies customer shortages and verifies warehouse inventory to validate shortage claims.
  • Tracks and identifies OS&D figures in conjunction with Transportation and develops methods to reduce claims.
  • Develops methods to improve the department through selection and inventory improvements.
  • Enters inventory counts on quarterly reconciliation and develops recount sheets based on parameters.
  • Interacts with warehouse associates to troubleshoot issues.
  • Assists with daily and weekly reports.
  • Works jointly with Supervisors and Management to meet warehouse metrics.
  • Prioritizes workload and adjusts based on position requirements.
  • Performs other clerical duties as identified by the department manager.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 years of shipping/receiving experience.
  • 1 year of customer service experience is a plus.
  • WMS experience required.
  • Strong computer and mathematical skills required.
  • Good interpersonal skills for frequent interaction with warehouse workers.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Customer service experience is a plus.
